Butterfly Dreams, Inc. Selected as an Official Charity for St. Louis Thanksgiving Day Parade

Butterfly Dreams, Inc. was chosen this year as one of only two official charities of the Christmas in St. Louis Thanksgiving Day Parade.

This honor comes with a promotional video by KMOV, a press release to all media, a check for $2500 and the broadcasters of the parade posting the website up for donations.

The video was filmed at a local law office and the butterfly representative to be interviewed was 2016 MO Sr. Miss Melelani Perry.  She sparkled even more than the tiara upon her head.  Executive Director, Syndi Sills, was also interviewed by the production crew.  One question that was asked, “What does Butterfly Dreams mean to you?”  Her answer, “Everything!  The World!”

Keep an eye on KMOV at the start of the parade for the promotional video.

2017 Illinois Keynote Speaker/Comedian – Andy Imlay

This year’s Illinois Pageant Keynote Speaker address will be given by a very inspiring man who has shattered many glass ceilings.  Coming all the way from Evansville, Indiana, Andy Imlay is a very loud and proud activist for the disability community.   This is evident in his blog/website PalsyPositive.com.  There you can read a little more about Andy, hear some of his previous podcasts, and keep up with his hectic schedule.

Along with being an Easter Seals Ambassador, Andy is beginning to develop a long list of credits behind him including a prominent role in the Nike FlyEase commercial;  a shoe made for athletes with disabilities.

Andy performs a stand-up comedy routine from his wheelchair.  He calls it “Inspiration/Humor through my battle with Cerebral Palsy!”

By the time he visits us, Andy will be a newlywed, just married to his beautiful bride Megan at the Superman Celebration in Metropolis, IL.  Did we forget to mention he’s a HUGE Superman fan?

Be sure to get you tickets to the pageant soon!  You do NOT want to miss Andy’s Keynote Address…ahem…comedy routine.

Butterfly Dreams Queens Visit NY Comic-Con 2017

Butterfly Dreams Queens Catherine (2015 MO Sr. Miss) and Ashton (2014 IL Teen) visited a special comic con in NY on April 22nd called CripCon.  This event focused on inclusion and brought the creators of two comic books “Department of Ability” from the UK and “Access Avengers” from the US, together in one location to urge comic distributors to include superheroes with disabilities in their adventures, and the public to be more acceptant of diversity and disability.

Syracuse University Disability Cultural Center hosted the event “CripCon 2017” and gives the following explanation for the name of the convention:

Missouri Butterfly Dreams Royalty Presents Medals at 5K

Missouri 2016 Butterfly Dreams Queens Melelani (Sr. Miss), Paige (Teen) and Princesses Lauretta and Autumn volunteered on April 15th at the first annual Super Run 5K in the St. Louis area.  This year’s theme was “Heroes vs Villains” and it was held at Creve Coeur Lake.  The ladies represented Butterfly Dreams both at the information table to curious participants of the race and at the Finish Line by helping handing out medals to over 900 runners!

They had a great time working with The Super Run and the superheroes from Gateway Guardians on a beautiful 70 degree Spring day!
